Useful Resources (Unit 1)
Below is a list of useful resources (software) that will support you in your study of the BTEC course.
Visual Studio Community Edition
This is a free, slightly cut-down but perfectly adequate version of Visual Studio that can be used for development. Note you may need to download versions for different languages. You must use a (free) Microsoft account to log in to the program. link
Visual studio does not, by default, support Python. If you want to edit Python code using Visual Studio, you must also download and install the Python extensions: link
IDLE is a free Python development environment. If you do not have, or do not want to use, Visual Studio, use this. It runs the same Python code, but has a very basic interface in comparison to Visual Studio. (i.e. less of a learning curve) link
Unity is a games engine and development environment. It works in conjunction with either its own code editor (built in), or if installed, Visual Studio. link

Use gamified e-learning to support your lessons
We make learning easy and fun while helping improve students’ results. Supercharge your success!
Automated, self-grading quizzes allow students to check their own understanding & reward their efforts.
Assign start dates & deadlines for lessons and quizzes to ensure students access the lessons when you want them to.
Real-time data allows teachers to track student progress and view analytics data to see where support is needed most.
Students complete achievements to gain XP and level up. They can even compare progress with peers on their leaderboard.
KnowItAll Ninja offers you fantastic tools for monitoring & tracking your student’s progress. You can schedule lessons & set deadlines for students to complete quizzes. You can even view every single quiz attempt your students make, including what answers they submitted.
You can view a variety of graphs to easily analyse student progress, such as which quizzes and even questions that your students find toughest.
This makes it so much easier to keep students engaged and better target support where it’s most needed.

Congratulations on an excellent and valuable resource. As an ICT/Computing teacher for both level 3 and level 2 courses, this website has delivered exactly what is needed (and is desperately missing) from the exam board.
This learning platform is great because you can get high grades. I just recently did my Unit 1 for IT and I came out with a distinction.
Remarkable revision material! Very vivid which makes it very easy to remember and is my favourite method of revision.

KnowItAll Ninja has engaged all of our learners at KS4 and at KS5 and they have got into the content with ease. Thank you for making this so easy for them. WE LOVE KnowItAll Ninja.
Students love the instant feedback and the quizzes are the launchpad for many an in-depth discussion of the topics – great coverage of the syllabus too!
I would just like to say how much of a helpful tool KnowItAll Ninja has been to me and my class. We have completed the entire syllabus and it has helped us to achieve our target grades.
